    Curcumin is a chemical component extracted from the roots and stems of some plants in Zingiberaceae and Araceae. Curcumin extract is orange yellow crystalline powder with a bit bitter taste and insoluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, propylene glycol and glacial acetic acid.

    Curcumin powder is one of the largest natural food pigments in the world. It is a food additive approved by the World Health Organization, the food and Drug Administration of the United States and many other countries.

The main function and uses of curcumin 95 powder are as follows.

1. Curcumin can be used as edible yellow pigment. Curcumin is usually used in the coloring of drinks, sweets, pastries, sausage products, dishes, sauced products, canned food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products.

2. Curcumin can be used as an acid-base indicator. When the PH value is 7 or 8, it will be yellow, when the PH value is 9, it will be reddish-brown.

3.Medical research shows that curcumin has the functions of reducing blood lipid, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, cholagogic and anti-oxidation. Other preliminary lab studies suggest that curcumin might protect against types of colitis, stomach ulcers, and high cholesterol. But it’s important to keep in mind that most of these studies have been done in the laboratory.
